Hello All:) what a great website (just discovered it) anways I'm at some crossroads in my life. I'm a nursing student, currently waiting to hear if my petition was granted for clinicals this Fall. I currently work as a bartender and cna. I'm thinking of quitting my cna job the hospital I work for is just ridiculous with staffing for the second time yesterday I was the only cna on our wing (surgical) from 7-3 with 4 nurses it is ridiculous and unsafe! My pto has been denied for the 2nd time in a row when I have a surplus of hours + many other little things. I'm nervous quitting, dreading that resignation talk with my boss and not sure where I'll go next, especially if I don't get into clinicals. If I do, I'll apply for a nurse intern at another hospital I see openings for and try to keep my bartending job. A worry I have with interning (requirement is cna experience and enrollment in 1st semester clinicals) is I won't know what I'm doing right away! Fall is 3 months away! So my question to you lovely folks is what's my wisest move?
Thank you for your time:)

First find a new place to work at, then quite this one. Good luck!

I doubt they'll expect you to know what you're doing straight away. It will most likely be similar to your work as a CNA.
Only you know whether to quit the CNA job. It would probably be better if you hold on until you get the intern job, rather than have to explain why you resigned/the gap between the 2 jobs, but if it's getting intolerable, do what you gotta do.
