Hi, I would like to ask if studying in NZ for a year and then obtaining a working visa working as a caregiver would count as an experience for NZ nursing council registration? Aside from taking IELTS or OET, what did students like them do in NZ to apply for registration? Is applying for student visa to study diploma courses so that you're already in NZ would give you an advantage to get a BP school than waiting in your home country for your eligibility letter and later on for BP school?

Thanks.

Sorry but working as a caregiver does not count as RN experience for NCNZ. Please be informed that the NCNZ of now requires a minimum of 2 years paid post registration work experience as an RN. Recently Immigration New Zealand removed some of the Nursing Speciality on their skills shortage list. For working visa application purposes, they will only grant working visa if you have at least 3 years of working experience in the areas of AGed care, Peroperative, Medical and ED nursing.

Studying in NZ for a diploma course will not give you an advantage in getting a slot for the Competency program, those recruitment agencies that are encouraging you to enroll in such programs is just after your money. Run away from them if you can. Why do want to spend 18k NZD to a study in NZ for a one year diploma course that will be useless anyway. Why not wait in the Philippines for you eligibility letter and apply for CAP later on. CAP is only 6-12 weeks depending on school and only cost 5-8 K NZD depending on school.
