Need ADVICE..maybe a little encouragement too!!

Published

Hi, I am writing to ask for a little advice, maybe encouragement.....

I take the NCLEX-PN on WED July 1st, I am super excited and stoked too. I have been studying for a while and recently purchased both the Saunders and NSBCN (whatever it is called) online study session. When I take the quizzes and tests out the book I am only ranging in the 60's to 70's.....some parts 80's. Is this normal, I feel ready but I am seeking other input from present/past testers. I am otherwise confident but this has me mind boggled. Any advice is appreciated......I love this site for info and I value everyones input..you are wonderful.

Hi,

Welcome to NCLEX land! Sounds like you are all set to take the test. Just concentrate on Infection control, prioritization and delegation.

I recently took this test and can atest to the fact that it is not only a test on knowledge/content but its a psycholoical test to see how you think. Read the questions carefully and rephrase them in terms concentrating on the "key" aspect of what they are asking you. You may get several that appear the same but they re-word questions at times. I had three questions on my test that were actually identical! I am guessing they wanted to see if I would change my answer. They WILL try and trick you. Read the questions carefully.

Be prepared for SATA questions, perhaps some med questions/calcs.

Most of all, be calm, focused and be absolutely ready to get 265 questions. That way, if you only get 75, its a bonus!

I crunched up about 10 Lifesavers in my mouth before the test as sugar DOES increase brain function. ( known study).

Once you get home, go onto Pearsonvue and try to re-register for the exam. It if states " delivery sucessful" and you can't get through to the credit card screen to pay for the exam again and get a pop up box.............this means you passed! ( a well known PV trick) :)

Good luck, stay focused, take breaks, don't study the day before ( do something fun instead) and go in there and kick NCLEX butt! :nurse:

WOW!!! You are my hero! Thanks so much for your words....you just don't know how much they mean. My stomach has been in knots for the past couple days since I scheduled the test. I remembered the sugar thing but you just motivated me to eat a bunch of candy..I will do it guilt free before the test LMAO!!! I will let you know how it goes..thanks so much again. I really appreciate it.
