Need advice badly - UC Berkley Extention Course

Published

I need some advice about whether to retake an English Comprehension prerequisite. I took General English Comp in 1995 and passed with a C. Now I'm back in school and applying to nursing programs for Fall 2014 in the San Fransisco Bay area where I need a B average or above for some of my basic GE courses at some schools because the BSN programs are so impacted. This means I should retake this class and attempt to get a better grade so I can meet minimum requirements to apply and also so I can slightly raise my overall GPA. My overall GPA now is 3.4. If I retook this class and got an A it would raise my overall GPA up to 3.6.

The one benefit is it's been longer than 7 years so retaking the course will not count against me. I found a course through UC Berkley's Online Extension courses, English X2A, that I can finish in as little as 90 days. Has anyone taken this course and could shed some light on the difficulty of it? I'm currently almost done taking Statistics online through UC Berkley's Extension and have a 98%. I've been very pleased with it so far.

The drawbacks are I've already got an 18 unit load this semester, granted I have A's in all my classes and I'm halfway through, but I'm also married and a mother of a 3.5 yr old and pregnant with my second and due 1/22/14. So, I'd be finishing this class right around the time I'll be giving birth...crazy I know...

I've been pushing my limits all year to get all my prereqs done to apply to as many BSN and RN programs as I can to hopefully start a program Fall 2014. Am I insane to even think of taking this online class as well? Or should I just push myself and get it done to ensure my chances of getting into a program? I need to decide this weekend in order to have time to finish the class with a grade to submit with my nursing applications which will all be due mid-late February.
