Need advice on alternative entry vs. accelerated program.

Published

Hello,

I am currently a junior in college in nutrition and have recently become interested in nursing. Instead of transferring, I plan to complete my nutrition degree (because I love the program, though am not interested in becoming a dietitian) and then enroll into an accelerated bsn program. My ultimate goal is to become a nurse practitioner.

My question/what I am seeking advice for is whether I should do a program where I can just receive my bsn and then work for a year or two to gain some experience or to do an alternative entry program where I get my bsn and then go straight into the msn program? Which do you think will be better in the long run? I'm worried I may get side-tracked if I delay going into an msn program.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!
