NCSBN-RN Review or Kaplan Q-Bank?

Published

Hi All!!

I just graduated and will be taking my exam in exactly 5 weeks. I have started studying a week ago and just completed the Kaplan Strategies, Practice, Review book. I also own the Saunders book and plan on using this as my review for the next 5 weeks in addition to either the NCSBN-RN 5 week review or the Kaplan Q-Bank for 1 month. Those 2 options are pretty similar in price but I am curious which people like better and felt was a better prep option and WHY. I think I will be using either of these as more of a question review rather than a content review (Ill use the saunders for my content).

I also wanted to know if the NCSBN has similar options to kaplan (like being able to customize the quizzes to incorrect answers, etc like the Kaplan says you can). And does Kaplan provide alternative question types like the NCSBN says it does? And lastly if you've already tested, which was closer to the real NCLEX-RN questions??

Look forward to your answers and Good luck to those studying too!!!

Hey Shelby,

To prepare for my exam I used Kaplan's Q bank and questions trainers. The style of questions used by Kaplan are very similar to the questions on the exam. You can create an exam with a maximum of 75 questions by selecting specific area(s) to be quized on. Kaplan also provides descriptive rationales for the questions, helping you understand why the answers selected and answers not selected are right/wrong. I highly recommend Kaplan as one of your resources.

I would also like to suggest Prioritization, Delegation, and Assessment by Linda A. LaCharity. It's a great book to practice these higher level questions.

I wish you luck!!

Thanks for the input!
