Hi

I am relocating to texas with my husbands work, I have applied to the Texas Board of Nursing and I am now just awaiting my ATT for my NCLEX RN.

Just wondered if there are any other UK nurses out there with any advice regarding sitting the exam? I have had a look at some sample questions through Kaplan and am I right in thinking you can be tested in virtaully any disease, nursing procedure, medication etc? the medication in the US seems to have different names from UK, so I presume I need to be familiar with most of the common US medications?

Once I (hopefully) pass my NCLEX RN I will be looking for work in Texas, looking online, am I right in thinking the options are agency (per diem), travel nurse or permament? But with Permanent you do not get holidays like in the UK? I am very excited about nursing overseas. I have 9 years post reg experience and last year completed my masters in Advanced practice. But would like to just do some hands on Nursing in the US until I get a feel for the culture etc.

Any advice or information would be really greatfully received!!!

Thank you

Kristin
