NCLEX Registration in NY State

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi all, I am wondering about the application process to sit for the NCLEX in NY state. I graduate in May and am very eager to take the NCLEX and get my license as I will be unable to search for a job until I do so (I am going to school upstate so this does not apply for most of my classmates, who are able to get jobs before graduation).

I am wondering if anyone here knows if I can fill out and send in the application to the BON on my own? My school has told me that they "submit the paperwork" in early June (not sure what paperwork exactly that is) and that the earliest graduates can typically test is July, two months after graduation. I would like not to wait that long if possible.

Anyone know if it is possible to speed the process up by applying on my own? Or does the BON need info from my school that only they can supply?

Thanks!

you can and should send in your application before graduation. This way when the school sends its part the state can automatically assign you the ATT. You are essentially waiting for them to merge two databases so if your part is in it will go faster.

Good luck

Thanks! I just spoke to my school and they said I should use the "expedited application" for NYS that they will post in March. They said that people who used the regular application for licensure last year had to wait even longer to get their ATT. Does anyone know about this expedited application for licensure?
