Hello everyone!! Wanted to share my NCLEX experience. This site helped me so much and maybe my post will help someone else! :)
A little background: I graduated from my LPN program in August 2014, had to wait awhile before I could afford all the fees to take the test.
I took my NCLEX yesterday 3/19/2015, my computer shut off at 85 (Squueee!!). I was scared to death! I live in GA so QR are available in my state after 48 hrs of taking the test. Well for giggles I went onto the licensing board this morning and low and behold.... MY NAME AND LICENSE WAS UP AND ACTIVE!!! I'm so happy!! My friend took hers yesterday as well (we studied everyday together) and she passed as well.
The test: Its not supposed to be a breeze, and it isn't. Know your labs! Know common disorders and signs and symptoms, know what you can and cannot delegate to a CNA (which are our best friends! ), know your meds and side effects/therapeutic values ( its impossible to know them all of course, but common meds you need to know). PRIORITY!! ABCs!!! If you are not that great with SATA, I suggest you make them you're frenemy and learn to love them as best you can (I HATE them, but I got pretty good at them before hand. probably 65% of my test was SATA) I had one drug cal question and it was simple, but still brush up on it. I did find that the test was easier than I expected though. You will, most likely, see a question and not have a flippin clue what its about, don't let this discourage you..just mouth "*****" and keep on trucking! :)
What I studied: The MAIN thing I used was Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-PN fifth edition. I read that bad boy cover to cover and probably did around 1000 questions online (they have about 4000 on there). Its great for content, and I did all the questions at the end of the chapters and read all the rationals for them. I also used Pinterest (I know right?lol), I had mnemonics on there and such that I would save to my phone and flip through when I was out and about. I studied every week day from January until two days before my test. I probably didn't need to study quite that much, but im an overachiever.haha. You did pass nursing school, so you already KNOW this stuff, but just look over it and burn it into your brain.
Good luck to everyone! Sorry so lengthy:/ I talk (and type) too much!! ** Also, I did do the PVT and it worked for me :)
