Hi,
I am currently studying the NC-1 and hope to take the test in a few weeks. Can anyone give me some idea of what kind of questions are on the test?
Where is the focus of the questions?
I am going thru Rue and testing with Excelsior.
Do they let you do an internet test or do I have to go somewhere to do a test?
Thanks for any help.

Welcome Mrs. Frog! You can find out exactly what the NC 1 test will cover by going to the Excelsior College website and printing off the NC 1 course outline. This is a free outline and tells you everything which will be covered on the exam. The free course outlines are available for all of Excelsior's courses, and I would recommend printing out each one. Even though you are using a study guide company (Rue), it is always a good idea to check the material supplied by Rue to the actual course outline from Excelsior. When you are prepared for the exam you need to contact a Pro Metric testing center in your area to arrange for an exam time. I believe there is a list of Pro Metric testing centers available on the Excelsior website. I would also recommend using the Nursing Concepts practice tests available on the Excelsior College website. They do cost $65 (I think its that amount), but I have found them very valuable. There are also practice tests available for free on the Yahoo/Excelsior/Rn Study group sites etc. There are quite a few groups on there that pertain to the Excelsior College program. Do a Yahoo search for these groups and you will find helpful information for all of the NC courses.
Good luck, and happy studying! Hope this information helps a little!:)

Hi I have taken all six of the EC nursing concept exams . The EC content guides were of very little use to me. I studied from my practice tests only and took the online practice tests from EC ( $65 ) each which are very useful.. Average study time was 30 hr. per exam .. Good luck

You Seem to know a little bit about this program, I just started and am hearing some bad things about Rue taking people to the cleaners etc, is it a good program? Do you have any advice?
Hi, personally I haven't heard any bad things about Rue, however I have not dealt with them myself so can't really say. If you haven't signed a contract with Rue yet, you may want to start a thread on this website and ask for feedback specifically about Rue. If you are wondering what their study guides are like before purchasing, you might want to check out eBay. You can usually find study guides for sale there for a fraction of the cost of new. You could purchase a used one and see whether you like the format, etc. I personally went with another study guide company, and have been quite satisfied with them. Like I said, I haven't heard anything specifically bad about Rue, but do check things out before you sign on the dotted line. If you want to go the study guide route, but want to save a lot of money, there are always used ones for sale on the RNstudygroup site, on eBay, etc. And of course there are those who do it themselves with the free Exclesior course outline and text books. There are lots of options out there! Good luck with your studies!
Well I have an opinion about RUE :angryfire and if you want to hear all about it, PM me. I've already posted my feelings towards them a million times on this board and other boards so won't waste everyone's time by doing it again. But like I said, feel free to PM me and you'll get an ear full.
