Navy Reserve Nurse? Travel Nurse?

Published

My situation:

-A wife and 2 year old son.

-Currently in an ADN program. (I plan on doing an ADN to BSN bridge).

-Currently work in a hospital and have signed contracts for 2 years after I graduate.

Here are the options I am considering after those 2 years are up:

-Travel nursing. Taking my family with me.

-Navy Reserve Nurse Corps.

Here are my questions:

1. Could I do Navy Reserve Nurse Corps WHILE doing travel nursing? In other words, is it possible to be transferred to different Naval Reserve bases for drill, whenever I change locations in a travel nursing career?

2. My wife will not be working, and she will be homeschooling my son. How feasible is it to expect that my family could accompany me everywhere I go for a travel nursing career?

3. In what ways would the Navy Reserve help me with my student loans?

4. I understand that you can stick with a specialty in travel nursing. Would I be able to stick with Emergency Nursing in travel nursing?

Please, if you are able, answer any or all of the questions which you may have more wisdom than me.
