[color=#234c84]new york, ny-february 25, 2010-the national league for nursing now has a new way for nurse educators to connect with one another, through the nln page on [color=#234c84]facebook, the world's largest online social media network site, with more than 400 million active users.

"i am so excited about this opportunity to create an online community and engage nln members in this popular, lively forum," said nln ceo beverly malone, phd, rn, faan. "i have no doubt that a visible nln presence on facebook will enhance the nln brand and will increase member participation in nln's important work to advance excellence in nursing education." added nln president dr. cathie shultz, "it will also serve to highlight the key role of the nln to all stakeholders in health care and higher education, in particular policymakers in positions of influence."

nln's facebook page is set up as an open group that anyone may join and invite others to join to gain immediate access to nln news and information. for example, content will include links to recent articles about the nln and that concern nursing education and nursing workforce development; information about upcoming events and activities, such as the annual education summit and nln faculty development conferences and continuing education workshops; photos; links to other groups relevant to nursing education; videos; opportunities to volunteer for the nln; and ways to purchase nln testing products and services. there will also be a discussion board for users to exchange ideas and dialogue, in addition to the wall, where messages may be posted for all to see and where "friends" can engage with each other. users are urged to express support for the nln by becoming "fans" and by joining discussion groups.
