I'm considering NAU. I know they are more expensive than a regular community college but the wait list is not as long. I already have my pre-reqs and I really don't want to wait another year to get into Nursing. What are your thoughts on NAU? Anyone go to school and graduate there with success? Considering Overland Park campus.

What program were you looking at because last I heard they dropped their LPN program, after the most recent session started and considering doing the same to their bridge course, as they were approved for a BSN program. The first year pass rate for their RN was only 64.71% where as the state average is usually around 85%. The issue with low pass rates is that if they don't get them up the school could lose their approval from the state meaning even if you finish, it is meaningless, as you won't be able to sit for your boards. My suggestion, if you are willing to move is check out slightly more rural schools that may be less competitive with fewer applicants. I think it tends to have a sort of negitive conotation to it. Or consider the LPN route that is what I did I paid like 4,000 to get my LPN, then worked while getting all my stuff done so I could apply for bridge programs, and was just accepted into a really cheap bridge program at a relatively rural community college to start in January (yay!).

I did look in to the OP campus of NAU, the quoted me at nearly $500 a credit hour:grn: That is crazy! in todays job market I couldn't imagine graduating with the kind of debt I would be forced to take on. For me it wasn't the right choice but you have to weigh you options perhaps use it as a back up plan, if you aren't accepted into a CC.
