Hi, everyone.
I'm in the process of applying for the Fall '09 program at NCC. I've met with advisors since I started (in '06) while working on my pre-reqs. I'm really upset today. I was told I would need a copy of my transcript from the few courses I took back in 1986. I remember the lowest grade was a "B" - but I was told that my NCC transcript would count more than my past courses. I'm only transferring 3 classes into the program. I guess I'm naieve, but I made the Dean's list at NCC - my GPA is 3.8 from NCC. I'm now told that the classes being transferred in (B, B+ and an A) will bring my GPA to a 3.6.
I'm so upset, all along, I've been going along thinking I'm applying with a nice, strong GPA. I'm very certain (even as of Monday) an advisor told me that my 3.8 would be considered more so than the credits transferred.
I was told by someone in the nursing dept today, that the transferred credits would be factored into the 3.8 -- therefore now a 3.6.
If anyone "out there" has a similar experience -- could you please share? I'd appreciate it. Sorry for my own pity party. I needed to vent (and vomit). Nothing will stop me from going for this -- I've wanted it since I'm 15 (now 45). I will take the 2 "B" classes again if need be. But, I really can't believe this!
