Nashville Job Outlook

U.S.A. Tennessee

New Grad re-locating from Albuquerque to Nashville in October! How are the job prospects? In ABQ it's hard for a new grad to find a job. There are just to many schools pumping out nurses for a limited area. My main interests are neurology and cardiac but am open to anything. Which hospitals do you recommend to start out at? What part of town should I scout houses in? Any info would be appreciated.

I would look into Vandys nurse residency program. We have 10 new grads rotating thru our unit right now that went thru the residency program. I think it's become harder across the board to get a job as a new grad. I've lived in other places and I would say that Nashville is somewhat more open to new grads. The problem is that there are several nursing schools in the area and I'm not sure how choosy employers are about where you graduated from. Look into working at Vanderbilt. They're still hiring quite a few nurses per month. be willing to work med-surg for a year or so and I would think you should be able to get a job.

what is the residency program like? Do they pay the same as other employee? Do you know the school reputation around TN like UTK ? I plan to apply for utk NURSING next year and wondering what is the reputation for UTK nursing program . Thank you.
