Name change after marriage

Specialties NP

Hi everyone - I am a FNP that has been practicing in California for the past 2 years. I got married last year but other than changing my name on the marriage certificate my name has remained the same. However - I am now looking to change my name and I have a few questions:

1. After change my nursing license (including my NPI# and furnishing #) to reflect my new name, will my old scripts no longer be valid? I have an entire box that I want to use up first if possible.

2. Do you think it will be okay to keep my maiden name on all the advertisements, brochures, and my business card even after I change my name? The majority of my patients are Chinese and address me by my Chinese surname, and that is the name they also used to find me, but my married name is German so I don't want to confuse them.

Anyone else been through this? Any advice or suggestions on the best and easiest way to change my name without causing professional confusion is welcome!! Thank you :)
