Hi all- Im currently mail shotting my CV to all and sundry and surprising to me a few hospitals actually want me!!!
I was surprised though that Ive been offered base pay NO1 at one hospital I really wanted to go to despite the fact I have 11 years experience at E, F and G grade in the UK (currently E grade)- Is this typical or is it like the USA where you negotiate your pay?
I dont want to go turning them down if this is about all I can ever expect,- not sure how its done (so to speak...)
Someone tell me if this is naff or not...!
Many thanks- Rach

Pay scale in Australia is dependent on the hours you have worked. Provide documentation from your previous employers verifying your hours and they have to place you on a pay scale accordingly.
I did not have hours worked from my employers in New Zealand so I filled in a 'Verification of Hours' form and had that witnessed by a JP, sent it in and went up to a more appropriate level of pay based on my experience.

Hello Rach
I work for Qld Health and assuming that you are looking at working in Qld also . NO1 has 7 levels and since you have 12 yrs exp, you will be paid NO1/L7 (not including shift or weekend allowances) when you commence. At NO1 level, the most you will be paid is L7. My suggestion is that you accept the offer of NO1 and then apply for NO2 when you have worked here a number of months and or when the position becomes available. Or alternatively, you can apply for NO2 (Clinical Nurse) if it is advertised. Here's the link to our nursing agreement, look under schedule - wages - tells you how much you will get paid.
