Hello,
I graduated from a pretty decent state university 10 years ago with a BA in political science. Partly because of a lack of knowing what exactly I wanted to do with my life, I slid by and graduated with a 2.8 GPA. This, I know, is not good. The problem is that now I want to go into a BSN program, and although several indicate 2.5 as a minimum, I have been told that the average accepted GPA is much, much higher (as in 3.5 at the same uni I graduated from). Long story short, have any of you been admitted with a similar or lower GPA? Do schools take into consideration how long it's been since those grades were given? At this point I'm not even sure if I should bother with doing my prerequisites for purposes of applying!

I did not apply yet and I do agree nursing schools prefer higher grades. However, I know someone who got accepted with a GPA like yours. Also taking your prereq and getting all As can increase your GPA. Many schools look at the whole package when accepting. Good luck!

I was in a similar situation to you, except I was a comm studies major. However, I managed to get straight A's in all the nursing pre-reqs, and that made all the difference in getting admitted to a second bachelor's program.
I'd suggest you shop around at different colleges. All of them seem to have different entrance requirements. I've even run across a few that look only at your most recent 30 units!
