how much do medical assistants make?

I'm a cna and was thinking about taking a few extra courses along with my lpn program since it's two years long to become a medical assistant along the way. But everyone I've talked to sais don't do it. While this is considered associate level and there's room for advancement, three women that have worked as medical assistants said they were lucky to get much more than 6-7 dollars and hour! is this really true? I have made upwards of 9-11 dollars an hour with being a cna and 7.25 an hour working in a deli at Walmart!!?!

It probably depends on what area of the country you live in. Here, I'm not even aware of any MAs, period. I don't really see what would be the benefit of you working towards an MA, if you're already in LPN school?

Good luck, whatever you decide... :)
