Mt. SAC Caduceus Club's 5th Annual Health Conference

Mt. San Antonio College's Caduceus Club is hosting it's 5th Annual Health Professions Conference on May 27th, 2011 from 8am-6pm. Last year, we had a little over 1,000 attendees and 200 speakers and representatives from various medical/allied health schools. Here's a description of the conference:

Celebrating it's 5th year at Mt San Antonio College, this is the largest health professions conference of it's kind in the United States. This year we have over 110 speakers and 60 medical/allied health program representatives in attendance. The conference features keynote speakers, workshops on admissions and career tracks, focus groups on various health fields, interactive skills demonstrations including suturing and casting workshops, panel discussions, networking, a 2 1/2 hour health education fair, deans of admission, and much more. For those interested in the latest research in medicine and public health, an all day scientific track features speakers from major medical research centers such as UCI, UCSF, UCLA, Loma Linda University, and USC. Focus groups include special sessions in a wide variety of topics, such as neurology, pain management, pediatric medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, surgery, naturopathic medicine, global health, careers in nursing, physician assistant, occupational therapy, veterinary medicine, public health and epidemiology, exam preparation, mock interviews, medical Spanish, Tai Chi for relaxation, how to write a great personal statement, and dress for success. The health education fair will also provide hands-on opportunities for students to learn how to suture, intubate a patients and see how the lungs work, and make teddy bears for Childrens Hospital of LA. Our EMT and Fire Science departments will provide hands-on first-aid and emergency response workshops for attendees.

Registration is available online at http://www.mtsacpremed.org. Early bird registration before May 1st is $20. This fee includes a conference scrub top, breakfast, lunch, access to all session and activities, and a grab bag of goodies. People in attendance will have a chance to win raffle prizes, including MCAT and other prep courses, fit items, and textbooks. After May 15th, registration is $25 and DOES NOT include a scrub top.

This is a great opportunity for students to speak with deans of admissions and counselors of their program of interested, such as Western University, Mount St. Mary's College-LA, Concordia University-Irvine, Charles Drew, UCLA, UCSF.
