Howdy! I'm currently in the accelerated program (graduating August 2018). I honestly don't think the accelerated program is that competitive. My diploma GPA was 3.6 and I want to say my pre-req GPA was around 3.3-3.5. Last year I found out I was accepted on 1/12/17. I think they take into consideration that some people haven't been in school in decades when they apply and some just finished their first degree right before the program started.
I had a good deal of volunteering and work experience as well.
Hope this helps!
I definitely think healthcare experience is valued. It doesn't necessarily have to be in a hospital or be a very hands on level of care (I only candy-striped for a couple years). As far as alumni having an edge, I can't say for sure. The majority of us are MSU students, so take that as you will. We do have students from OU, GVSU, EMU, etc, but a lot of us are MSU alumni.

I applied to the upcoming may 2018 cohort for the accelerated nursing program at Michigan state. I'm waiting to hear back from admissions and am getting anxious. I have a 3.5 overall Gpa and 3.3 prereq gpa. Wondering if anyone else has gotten accepted yet to this cohort or what past admitted applicants credentials are.
