MS Nursing Education SELU (Southeastern Louisiana University)

Published

Hi all!

I completed my BSN last year at Southeastern and would like to go back to obtain my MSN Education degree. I plan on getting more information from Southeastern of course, however, I felt that I needed to do some research, hopefully from fellow graduates (since I don't know any personally) or from those who have done research in this particular area (or heck, maybe you know someone that knows something more than I do!). I am planning on obtaining this degree by attending part time and am unsure of a few things such as:

1. The current curriculum has 225 total clinical hours required ---- for the Education degree, are these clinical hours completed in an educational setting (i.e. university classroom, teaching) or a hospital setting? I'm honestly very confused about the "clinical hours" requirement and what exactly I will be doing.... Is this where I will be learning the hands on approach of teaching or is it like the clinical hours that were completed for BSN?

2. Thesis vs. Non-thesis --- how do I know what is right for me? I actually like research, however, is it still the same degree? Pros/Cons? Benefits/Risks? Necessary/not so much? HELP! LOL.

3. Has anyone had experience applying for and getting into the program from SELU? What was your experience like, and how many clinical years of experience did you have prior to?

I'd like to thank you all in advance for helping me out! :)
