Moving out of state

I switched to psych from ICU almost a year ago, and I really enjoy my job. Due to hospital wide changes with scheduling and shifts, I will be looking for a new job soon. Our plan is to move out of state, which we had intended, this is just moving the time frame up some. I'm very sad, as I do enjoy my position, I love my coworkers, and do not really feel ready to move on just yet. But such is life.

For those who have worked in more than one place, were there a lot of differences between facilities? I traveled for 2 years as a medical nurse, and found that while policies differed nursing was still nursing. I was able to adapt well. Not sure if it will be the same with psych. I've heard some places the nurses run groups? Others they have fewer patients and tend to do more 1 on 1 care with them.

My hospital we also staff counselors. We have on average 22 patients, with 2 nurses and 2-3 mental health assistants. The counselors are there during the day, I work 3-11p currently. I'm just wondering if I hire on for an inpatient unit elsewhere, what can I expect?

My plan is to work inpatient for a while, as I only have about 1 year. Then I will decide where to go from there in the future.
