I know there are other threads related to this topic, but nothing current. Wanted some fresh advice on moving from LTC to the hospital. I have been an LPN for about 9 months and have been working about 8 months in a large LTC facility. I take care of about 25 residents and I think it's insanely busy. Very heavy med passes, treatments, dressings, tube feedings. I run around all day long, I rarely take a break. I usually only have 2 aides, so I end up doing a lot of ADLs as well. I do PRNs and call doctors for status changes and lab results. I think it's very, very stressful. I am graduating in May and would like to try something different. I recently got a job as a nurse extern on the Med-Surg floor of a hospital and will need to either sign a year contract once I graduate in May or choose to leave at that point. I'm nervous about moving from LTC to the hospital. Has anyone made a successful transition? Is the hospital better/worse in your opinion? Were you glad you made the change? Any advice?
