Moving to las vegas,henderson area

I just got a job at St Rose Hospitals. I need housing (apartment) in a nice neighborhood in either Las Vegas or Henderson. Any suggestions?

What other advice do you have for a"newcommer" to the Las Vegas, Henderson area?

If you are working for St. Rose hospitals and be commuting between them, you should probably live in the south part of the city. I would say to find an apartment close to the I 215 and East Windmill Ln or South Eastern Ave area. It would be convenient to drive to work. This would put you between all of the facilities. If you are at the San Martin campus you could hit the 215 and head west or de Lima you would head east. The Siena campus is south on South Eastern Ave to St. Rose Pkwy. I live in this area and have found it to be relatively safe and close to shopping (Walmart, Home Depot, post office, restaurants etc.). I say relatively safe because there is crime everywhere here. I would advise you to look at the Las Vegas Metro Police Department's community crime mapping web site. CrimeView Community Incident Map : Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

I suppose you could call it Southeast Las Vegas and Southwest Henderson. There is no clear line where Las Vegas stops and Henderson starts. When you are at South Eastern Ave and I 215 you are basically on the line between Las Vegas and Henderson. The boundaries are not clear. See map. Henderson, Nevada Zip Code Boundary Map (NV). I really don't see the difference between the two areas. I like this particular area because it is easy to get on the 215 and get anywhere you want in relatively short time. Well, considering the sometime traffic jams on the 215 from wrecks during rush hour. I have classes at College of Southern Nevada on W. Charleston and Torrey Pines (more northwest part of Vegas) and I always leave a little early because I know there will be heavy traffic in the mornings. That is just the nature of the beast. Lol.

Oh, one more thing. I would invest in a GPS unit or an app on your phone. I have lived here for 3 years and still use it at times. Map Quest is good but a hassle when you want to jump in the car to go somewhere. :twocents:

I have lived in Henderson and then lived in Anthem and now in Las Vegas. I have liked all areas for their own reasons. I would suggest the same area. Somewhere off the 215 and Eastern is a nice area. I lived off of the 215 and Stephanie, very quick access to the freeway, nice neighborhoods and parks. Either way you wont get away from the heat :)

Thanks for the info. Do you have specific apartment names in mind or they are all homes? I will be in vegas this weekend to seriously scout for apt to rent. I have seen a couple of apartments in the 215-Green valley area, however this time I will try the 215-stephanie area like u mentioned earlier.

My start date is inching up ..Oh boy Where are my moving boxes? I have to start packing..well I have to find a place first:)

Oh one last thing where can I find nursing scrub stores in the area?

Hello everyone,

I am looking for some help on relocation to Las Vegas. I have visited the city many times and am very familiar with the Henderson area. My boyfriend has a job interview on July 21st in another field. While I have no applied for any positions yet do you think it would be worth while to fly out with him ($700 flight) and hope I have an interview with someone by then? Any suggestions on places to apply or to stay away from? I have read that hospitals in the area often toss applications from out of state applicants. How can I avoid this?

I currently work for a healthcare system in Pennsylvania. My role is a Charge Nurse, and a member of my hospitals Career Enhancement Program, which is designed to develop my skills towards a more managerial responsibility. I am currently working within an in-patient Oncology/Med Surg department, but am aspiring to earn my Master's Degree, and grow into an administrative role.

Can anyone offer help and or advice on relocating and the job process?
