My boyfriend/father of my son's company is moving to Chicago and obviously ths means that we need to marry so I can be with him and be able to work in the US ... I really want to go into nursing and have been applying to do a degree in midwifery in this country for september 2012, this now might not be possible, taking my career into account amongst my decision I was wondering if I study for nursing in America and then decide that its not for me and want to move back will I be able to go into nursing in England straight away or will I have to re-train.... what would I have to do if i decided to move back? Im only 20 so I haven't really established anything in the way of qualifications or skill base to get a job over in america so studying would be all I had.

For you to be able to practice as a US-trained nurse in the UK, you will need to have a Bachelors of Nursing Degree (ADN nurses are not at this point recognised in the UK). I'm not sure what it would take for you to start a BSN degree, however. How far have you gone in your studies? A Levels?
Also, is your son's father a US citizen or moving to the US under a work permit? Which visa you apply for will depend on your circumstances. You won't be able to automatically move here if you get married, you will still need a visa.
My son's fathers moving to a US on a work permit as his job is now moving to america. his company are sorting visa's ... I have level 3 qualifications which is called a BTEC the equivilant to 3 A-levels which are top grade but that was in film and television production and nothing to do with nursing. so I'm not sure what I would have to do. As I have no training at all and would have to study in america. but obviously only being 20 I may end up wanting to move back.
