Moving from Compact to Non Compact State..HELP!

Published

Ok, well I'm thinking about moving to Oklahoma which is a non compact state from Missouri which is... but I don't even know where to start! Does anyone have any experience with this? How do I go about applying for a new license and how long does it usually take? And also, what if I decide I want to move back to Missouri?? All replies are extremely appreciated :)

Compact doesn't make that much difference. I never found it that useful since every time I moved even if the new state was "compact", I still had to apply for a new license. The compact mostly helps nurse who are travelers. If you change your actual physical address and relocate, the new state's board will require a (new state)license in that state... even if you're moving compact to compact. It takes about a month to a month and a half.

the application process is not affected by whether or not the state is compact. Contact the OK BON for directions on how to apply. It will be a matter of paperwork and fees. If you want to work in OK before the license is approved, then you need to ask if they allow a temporary license.

Yes, start by finding the Oklahoma board of nursing's website and their instructions for endorsing an out-of-state license.
