Moving to CA

Published

Hey all! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I am currently an Ohio RN hoping to get my CA license and move there within the next 3-4 months. I have my BSN and 2 years of acute care experience in med/surg. I have lived in the midwest my entire life and am really tired of living here. I have traveled to CA once and loved it. It would be my dream to live there. Ideally, I would like to move to the San Diego area. What is the cost of living like? I can imagine it is much more than where I live currently. But would pay make up for it? Right now I am making $24.50/hr. Also, would it be easier to get a job with a hospital or traveling agencies? I have been trying to do my research on agencies. It seems like most places have 13 week assignments. So what happens after those 13 weeks are up? Do they relocate you to a whole new city/state or just to a different hospital or position within the same hospital? What are the best hospitals in the San Diego area? Thanks guys. I know this would be a huge decision to make considering all my family/friends are in the midwest, and I know zero people living in CA. But it is one that I have thought about for a while.

Pay is higher in SD, but so is COL. Google Maps the hospital in SD. There's quite a few.
