I have been working in the informatics field for 2yrs now and am considering either furthering my education (currently a BSN) or getting certification in the field. Which certification would be the most beneficial or would it be better to work towards my MSN? What would look the best on my resume?

Depends on your career goals. Working in informatics does not require certification. It can add to your resume though. If you want a management position then you will need a masters degree. Employers are more impressed by your personal work history and project management skills. CPHIMS and RN-BC are two common certifications. An "informatics specialist" is someone with a masters. I would recommend an in state public university. They are cheaper and more respected. A University of Pheonix degree is expensive and actually looked down on. If the only prerequisite is ability to pay tuition, stay away from them. You can do an online program and no one will know if you pick a traditional school.
Thanks for the info. My BSN is from University of Phoenix and I have had no issue whatsoever with getting positions because of it. Interestingly I have a management position interview coming up this week and all I am bringing is some awesome experience and my BSN, they sound very interested because of the amount of implementations I have pretty much done by myself in the past 2yrs.... Thanks for the insight I will look into these certifications.....
