I figure I come up with this topic to make it easier to go over who was accepted to Montefiore and who was not based on GPA, classes completed at time of application, and KAT scores so that we aren't reading through forums to get answers. This would help a lot of us .
Thanks !
makes sense. ill post when i get some feedback from the school
Last year I got rejected from Monte with a Kaplan score of 74 and 3 pre reqs outstanding(they were older than 5 years) and never took nutrition. So in total I applied with 4 outstanding pre reqs.
I didn't bother applying to Monte this year because I did not want to retake classes I had already taken and aced. When I applied to Monte last year, I didn't know about Cochran. I didn't know they take pre-reqs up to 10 years and mines were completed about 8-9 years ago. I took the Kaplan again and scored 84.
From previous years thread and what I've learned at info sessions, being LPN does not increase your chances at getting accepted. They strictly go from Kaplan scores first, then number of pre-reqs completed.
So focus on the Kaplan first to improve your chances. Also the scores all depend on how everyone performs overall. One year someone might get in with a 78, another year someone else might get in with a lower score. The Kaplan exam was exactly the same this year as the one I took at Monte last year. Taking the exam at Monte was more strict then taking it at Cochran. The proctor was at Monte was strict. The math portion was the easiest, reading the hardest. I didn't use the Kaplan book this time I studied straight from quizlet. Some of the questions were excatly the same for the sciences part and for math some numbers were switched around for some questions.
Btw doe Cochran, they advised taking online courses at straighterline for missing pre-reqs. It's cheaper and done at your own space. I'm not sure if it's something Monte accepts. I'm currently finishing Nutrition at that website now before I start in January. I will come back with some more info or links to help you guys study for Kaplan. Good luck to you all; those who got in and those who did not. To those who did not get in this year, you will next year. Now you guys know the process and are familiar with Kaplan. Start preparing now! Y'all got this! God bless you all!
