I am considering relocating from Minnesota to Texas. Wondering if anyone has experience in both states and could offer opinions. I have years.... of experience in long term care as a director of nursing. Intrested in info on quality, wages and general conditions between those 2 states. Thanks Much

Although I never lived in Minnesota, I have lived in Wisconsin and moved to Texas about eight years ago. Hands down....I LOVE IT!!!! There are obvious reasons of course such as no SNOW (I live in central TX, not true for north TX). It is not as green as the midwest as far as scenery but it is green. It does get HOT!!! But there are tons of ways to cool off. You will not get paid the same, cost of living is much lower in TX. But what I do love is that you can get a nice new home for much less than you would pay for one up north. One thing I do miss is a big body of water, (ex: Lake Michigan). Austin does have Lake Travis... but anything you can see across I don't call big lol. I think cities in Tx are much cleaner and better taken care of those up north. Texans really do take pride in their communities!! It really depends on which city you move to and what type of lifestyle are you looking for. I really do think you would enjoy it here down south. I can't imagine ever moving back up north! I am sorry I can't answer your other questions, my field of expertise is limited as I am a new grad. But as far as moving from the north to the south...COME ON DOWN!!!!!

I moved to East Texas 10 years ago and love it. Salaries here are competitive with local market, but not as great as Dallas, Austin and Houston. However, living expenses are much less as well. I think managers make anywhere from 55k-65k and Directors closer to 75-80k. We have a great need for experienced nurses and know you would find a place in our region.
