Hi! I am helping my girlfriend work through literally this exact same process and it is beyond frustrating. She is an italian RN and is missing theory and clinical hours in pediatrics and maternal infant care about 35-40 hours in each). We have tried talking to CGFNS but they only "create the report" and they mentioned how they only give recommendations to the BON. Someone at CGFNS told me how the BON can approve/disapprove regardless of the the CES report. I called and asked the BON if that's true and they just say they go off the report. The only option for her to get these hours at the moment is to complete another nursing program which seems completely ridiculous. Would love to chat with some people or you KPrn01 to see if we can all help each other resolve this problem.
Hi, I am a Canadian nurse (ADN graduate, license in Canada) applying to TBON and as per CES I have a deficiency in theory hours for mat child, peds and geriatrics (I miss 3-4 hours in each subject which is ridiculous) do you have any update on your case? Were you able to make up for those hours?
I don't have any update unfortunately 😞 I feel like we should all reach to Tbon and demand that we are provided a clear path towards licensure with a school program that we can attend to be integrated as RN if out degree is deemed comparable to the US one. I find it absurd that in order to move forward we have to go back to school, but there is no school willing to take us. Very discouraging and disappointing
Hy guys, I have a couple of updates. Before starting, I want to precise that my board is the Arizona one, so what I did can be applied only to the AZBN. When I received my CES report for Illinois, it was written that I was missing clinical hours in "maternal nursing" and "psychiatry". In AZ, if you don't already hold a license you cannot access to the some "salvage course" that some nurse can use to fill their gaps; CGFNS wasn't able to give a solution. So I contacted my nursing school in my country and I applied for their voluntary hands-on clerkship (in my country I am holding a unlimited license). I did some hours (AZBN is happy as long as the clinical hours in any of the CES report box are not 0) and made the nursing school send them to CGFNS. CGFNS released the new CES report without missing hours and AZBN approved. Now I have a license in AZ and IL as well as my VisaScreen done. I hope this can help.

Hi everyone,
I'm a Canadian nurse who recently moved from Toronto to Texas and I'm currently working on getting my initial RN license here. I graduated from uni in Ontario Spring 2024 and have been navigating the steps required by the Texas Board of Nursing, but I ran into a problem with missing peds & maternal/infant clinical hours as shown in my CES report. I did not have a peds & maternal/infant rotation. I've contacted my uni but they cannot have give me further clinical hours since I've already graduated.
Has anyone else been through this? If so:
Any tips for how I can meet complete these requirements?
Is there any way of going around this issue?
Thanks so much for any insight – this process has been a bit overwhelming, and any guidance would be appreciated!
