Does anyone ever have missed visits and what do you do about them? Do you know the Medicare regs for snv frequency?

You must visit according to the frequency you set in your plan of care. What we often do is make a phone visit if we are really stretched or the family/patient is not wanting a visit for some reason.

I agree with Aimeee - you are supposed to visit based on your plan of care. We generally use a range of 1-3 visits (plus prn) q wk so that means that we need to make at least 1 visit a week. Medicare requires that patients have a SNV assessment at least q 14 days but if you are making one visit q 2 weeks and you have 1 visit a week on your care plan you are setting yourself up to get a deficiency. If I have a very stable patient that can handle an every 2 week visit, then I will set them up that way (but this is an unusual occurrence, as most patients need at least 1 x wk.)

Medicare regs require a visit once every 14 days or you are out of compliance. If you make attempts to contact and/or visit unsuccessfully, you must document this.
