I am a new LPN. Which means I have no experience, except clinicals, as an LPN. I graduated in Oregon and transferred my license to North Dakota because that's where my fiancé lives. Nursing has always been a dream of mine and I am anxious to start my career! That is, until I had my first interview. I chose trinity because it is a large company where I reside and I figured there would be plenty of options. During my interview I was told that $15.50/hr would be my pay. That was disheartening to hear when I know my friends, and fellow classmates, make $25-$30/hr. But I was willing to set that aside because nursing is where my heart is. Then came the chore of finding a babysitter for my 6 1/2 year old son. $12-$15/hr is the rate!! Really?! In Oregon it's $3-$5/hr. So now I'd be making $3-$0/hr. Ouch! It's so sad to know that a cleaning lady gets $30/hr and secretaries make $25/hr ~ They didn't even go to school so there's no student loans for them even. I have been so determined to make it work here but, as a nurse, it's not looking so good.

I live in ND . ND is one of the lowest paying states for RNs and LVNs..most people come here to get experience then leave. If i where you i would get into RN program asap. I know some LTC pays more then hospitals out here.
