Just curious if anyone has moved south with being sick of the cold winters and then moved back up here? Just curious on people's thoughts. I would love to move to AZ (warmer and we have some family down that way), but the hubby is starting to get stubborn and not want to move (Yes, after he agreed before). Just curious, on weather thoughts. I know AZ can be HOT, but not as humid as up here. I just really dislike the winter up here....to me it is 6 months out of the year esp when my heat is on almost that long. :sasq:

Anybody live in the St Cloud area? If so how is that hospital to work for? I currenlty live in WI, but my hubby works in St cloud, so if we do not move south we would probably move to St cloud.

thanks for all your input!

Can only say I moved to Southern WI from Northern MN. However Dh and I are looking at moving to MN in the next couple of years. Probably the NW burbs.

I was in Phoenix in April and yes it is a dry air but it was already getting really warm out.

I grew up in MN, joined the Navy (stayed for 20 years) and still live in VA. But it seems like every time either my wife or I get the itch to go back to be closer to family we turn on the TV and see that it's WAAYY cold, and we rethink it.

Now, once I get through school and NCLEX we may very well move back. The problem is I graduate in Dec and we are both smart enough to realize winter would not be a good time to relocate.

Kevin,

Today it was 38 degrees below zero with the wind chill, well in WI were we are, but the cities were pretty much the same.

Make you think twice about moving back huh? hee hee

It makes me think more than twice!

Wife is going up to see family for a week, looking at the forecast it's supposed to be mid-twenties while she's there. I think the key for us is to move in the spring-summer so we can ease in to winter. And budget extra $$ for better quality winter clothes/gear.

It doesn't matter weather sucks every where, here summers are hot, humid with hurricanes (though I prefer hurricanes to tornadoes). We get couple months of "winter" 25-40 degrees, cold rain, cold wind coming off of the Chesapeake Bay / Atlantic, a couple days of snow accompanied by thousands of accidents.

I lived in Hawaii and that gets boring, same weather every day ... although it was fun to call home in the winter. We lived in Memphis and that wasn't too bad, summers are comparitive to VA without the sea-breeze. Quite a few ice storms in the winter, only snowed twice in the 3 years.

Your right on the weather not being good really anywhere you go. There is always a downfall about something. Right now the downfall is it is extemely cold out, the summer I'll complain that is it too humid outside. Spring, too wet and icky on the roads esp when that snow starts to melt (yes, we still have snow in fall and the spring season), and it gets our cars dirty. hee hee

So, whenever you move back here it probably really doesn't matter. It is either going to be cold, melting snow in the spring, or humid if you move back in the summer.

Good luck with your move and figuring out where in MN you want to live unless you have that all planned out!

I moved up to MN to begin my career as an RN after growing up in the south. These winters are definatley ridiculously cold!!! I wanted to give the winter weather a try and experience midwest lifestyle however I hate having to take 10 minutes to get dressed in warm enough clothes to do something simple like walk my dog!!

I am toying with the idea of moving back to the warmer climate and the slower pace of the south, but then again I may miss the beautiful snowfalls and the change of seasons that MN has to offer.

Good luck with whatever you decide. I'm also trying to figure out if the winter is enough of a reason to leave the north!
