Military spouse torn

Published

Hi everyone! So this post is basically to gain more opinion on the decisions I'm considering making...

i have had to push back applying to nursing programs twice because my husband joined the military and we have relocated from the east coast to the west coast. So now I am officially two prerequisites away from being able to apply to nursing programs out here. i am so excited at how close I am! Through all the hard times it seems to finally be paying off...

the original map I laid out I could complete an ADN program the same year his contract would have been done here. But we hit a bump in the road with child care issues so now if I apply to the nursing programs out here (and get in) I wouldn't be done until 6 months to a year AFTER his contract is done here. (That time distance depends on whether I get into a spring or fall program)

so so this is where my conflict comes into play. I told my husband that if I get into a program out here then we will just have to make the sacrifice for the 6 months to a year that the children and I will stay here while I finish the program. I will have to hire sitters to help me and it will definitely be more challenging but it's a challenge I'm willing to take because I don't want to keep pushing it back. But now I'm starting to doubt myself and wonder if I should just complete my prerequisites and wait to apply to programs when we move but that would be pushing nursing school back for ANOTHER two years and I really don't want to do that.

its a small sacrifice of our family being apart for a longer reward.. I would complete my degree in CA then relocate and officially start my career wherever his military journey takes us. After all, his career accounts for us having to make these kinds of sacrifices anyway...

AM I CRAZY??.. If I choose to stay here and finish school

its soooo close I can almost taste it lol
