Answer: yes, not many though. There are more civilian contracts than there are military. My wife is L&D and working on her midwifery as we speak, really she went TAD to her school for a week for hands on. Anyway, the Navy will put 1 midwife through school per year via DUINS. As I understand it, they are trying to get more and more midwives in, just taking a while. Once my wife gets her degree she's going to try and get billeted as a midwife, nothing guaranteed, so we'll see. So the answer to your question is: yes.

Thanks LCDR!!! I'm just going to start messaging you directly! You've always got the answers.
~my dh & i were reminiscing about sigonella earlier today! gosh, i'll never get over that island & their gelati!~
WOW!! When were you in Sig? We were there from 2003-2006. We want to go back after we get through with this tour. Wife and I always talk about being there more about the food and WINE then anything, Ha-Ha. Talk about small world. If you want give me a call 304-433-1580 or 304-725-3742. I'm on leave until the 25th and then its back to work. Take care and good luck.
