i heard Raritan bay is taking over UMDNJ's nursing program. i wanted to get a copy of their curriculum but soo impossible to get someone pick up the phone.

do you have a copy of the new outline ?

hey i have applied for their fall 2008 nursing program. they don't have a very demanding pre-requisites. from what i know and research they're accepting 110 students for the fall of 2008 term. the curriculum itself is not listed, but i know that the nursing courses is 4 days a week. not exactly sure what the actual times are, but there are no nights and weekend nursing courses, but co-requisites you can take during the night and weekend. i do have a list of what you need to do to get into the program. i have completed everything, my gpa is a 3.15. the only thing i'm waiting for is the teas exam which i'm scheduled to take on the 9th of december. hope this isn't too long:

1. [color=#669900]submit an application and $25 application fee
   submit an application and $25 application fee between september 15, 2007 and january 15, 2008 for the fall 2008 nursing program. new students may begin studying as a liberal arts general major, biology major or in our open college program as soon as the spring 2008 semester. as a liberal arts general, biology or open college student you may take co requisite courses needed for the program. students that wish to apply for financial aid should choose either liberal arts general or biology pre-professional as their major. open college is not an approved major for financial aid purposes. a separate application for spring 2008 is required for new students.
   
2. request transcripts
   request that all high school and college transcripts be sent directly from your schools to the admissions office. if you have received a ged, official scores must be sent. transcripts must be received by january 30, 2008 for nursing applicants to the fall 2008 program. transcripts for students applying for the spring 2008 semester should be sent as soon as possible.
   
3. take the esl exam
   take the english as a second language (esl) exam if english is not your best language and if you have not completed four years of high school english courses in the us. applicants who attended college outside the us need to have their transcripts evaluated by an accredited third party evaluator such as aacrao or wes. if you have the evaluated equivalent of a us bachelor's degree you may submit toefl scores for review. only students that have the evaluated equivalent of a us bachelor's degree may submit toefl scores. any required esl courses must be completed by the close of the fall semester (december 2007) for the fall 2008 program. the college placement test must be taken after completion of esl courses. call the mcc testing center at [phone] to schedule your test.
   
4. take the college placement test
   take the college placement test or receive an exemption. new students applying for the fall 2008 program or the spring 2008 semester may take the college placement test after october 15. if you have taken the test at another new jersey college, please have the scores sent to the middlesex county college testing center. if you have sat scores that are less than 5 years old with a score of 540 or greater in critical reading you will be exempt from the reading and writing portions of the test. if you have a score of 530 or greater in math you will be exempt from the math portion of the test. have your sat scores sent to the admissions office to receive an exemption for that portion(s) of the test. all applicants with a college degree from a us institution are exempt from the test. applicants who attended college outside the us need to have their transcripts evaluated by an accredited third party evaluator such as aacrao or wes. if you have the evaluated equivalent of a us bachelor's degree you will be exempted from the college placement test.
   
5. complete prerequisite courses
   complete prerequisite courses of laboratory biology (mcc course bio 010) and laboratory chemistry (mcc course chm 010) with a grade of "c" or better by the close of wintersession (january 2008). science courses are not offered at mcc during wintersession.
   
   complete mat013 with a grade of "c" or better or reach the cut off score on the algebra portion of the college placement test.
   
   complete all developmental courses, if necessary, as indicated by the college placement test by the close of wintersession (january 2008) with a grade of "c" or better.
   
6. take the pre admissions exam
   further information about this requirement will be sent to you after you submit an application to the actual degree program. only students that have completed all of the pre-requisites will be permitted to take the standardized test. this year middlesex county college will be using the test of essential academic skills (teas). information about the test may be found at [color=#669900]www.atitesting.com

hey lexi ha...im going to mcc right now and my entrance exam is scheduled for sometime next week..do you have any recommendations to what i should study? is it hard? thanks

just want to let guys know that I was accepted into the Middlesex County College nursing program. I scored an 84.5 on my TEAS, and had an overall GPA of 2.8 at Middlesex. My scores in Anatomy I and II were both B's. These scores might not sound competitive but I already have a Biology degree from Rutgers New Brunswick. That might have helped my case a great deal considering all of the stuff I've been hearing about trying to get into this program.

Oh! One more thing. I was initially put on the waiting list when I received my letter April 30th; I figured that was basically a "no", since I heard that the waiting list was forever, but I received a call yesterday (6/9) that a spot had opened up and they were offering me a seat in the program (thanked the heavens for that).

Well, that's that. I don't know if this post helps anyone in terms of trying to gauge what it takes to get into the program. My TEAS score was definitely higher than average (76?), but my GPA was abysmal considering what everyone else seems to be striving for, but I think I really owe it all to my previous degree.

If any of you have any questions, just post them at me, and I'll try to answer them as best as possible. Good luck everyone! I feel like there are others out there who deserved the spot over me, but, I'm nevertheless thankful that I got it.

@cpohi3 it sounds as if i was in an almost identical situation, i just got a call a few days ago offering me a position in the school. I was just wondering how the school was? and if you had any tips? do we have winters/summers off? also what classes did you take your first semester? Hi! I am a MCC nj student and i am taking the teas exam tomorrow and I did very bad on the online practice test (66%). My Gpa is good (3.69) but I haven't taken any anatomy and physiology classes, only basic bio and chem. Do you have any advice for me? all I want is to hit the average just to be considered in the program...
