you're stats sound good, I 'd agree with getting your CCRN, especially in Texas.
I got into a solid program with similar stats and about the same MICU experience...it's a great unit to learn in, because your pts will be very complex.
most ICU nurses will tell you that taking a bad, bad GI bleed is one of the most acute scenarios that you can face as an ICU RN.

I'm a new grad RN working in the MICU at a large teaching hospital. So far things are going well. The only problem is that since it is a large teaching facility the ICUs are very specialized so ALL the hearts go to CV unless we have overflow. Thus MICU= minimal Swanns/hemos. I'm planning on applying to CRNA school later this year to start in 2007 at which time I'll have a total of 1.5 years exp. I graduated from my BSN with a 4.0 and got a 1320 on the GRE. I don't know that I'll be able to take the CCRN prior to interviews due to the work requirement.
I tried to get into CVICU when I graduated but they filled their spots and then later went on to hire 3 more new grads. So I don't know if they really were full or if they just chose to not offer me a spot.
BTW I'm wanting to apply to Baylor.
Think I'll be able to get in??
