Microbiology 1 or 20?

Nursing Students LPN-RN

I've got a question directed towards students who are in any of the Los Angeles Community Colleges:

Did you take Micro 1 or Micro 20?

Microbiology 1 is Introductory Microbiology and is FIVE units.

Microbiology 20 is General Microbiology and is FOUR units.

Of course I would rather take Micro 20 but I'm confused because some schools want one, some want the other, some don't care....

which one do I take so that there won't be a problem when it comes time to fill out applications for the RN program?

Hi Gladiola,

Your nursing counselor should be able to easily answer that question for you. I understand your frustration because I had the same question when I was deciding which Chem class to take... but my counselor had it all figured out.

If push comes to shove, look at the schools you are most interested in and find out which one(s) they require.

I'm surprised that your school has two micro classes, mine has just one (which I'm currently enrolled in). Not my favorite class, but not as bad as physiology was.

Good luck and hang in there!
