Michigan PACU RN planning to move to Oahu

U.S.A. Hawaii

Published

Aloha, I am seriously planning on moving to Oahu. This is so I can be closer to my 93yo aunt. I will be able to rent out a room at my cousins house, so housing won't be a big issue.

I started looking up some information about applying for endorsement/reciprocity. From what I understood is that it is better to apply after July so I don't have to pay twice or extra?

Also, when I apply at the hospitals, should I use a local address?

How do I get information about the benefits from the hospitals?

What are the chances of me getting hired right away? I work mainly in Pre-op and PACU, I do have an experience as a CVCICU, post open heart patients.

Thank you,

Nancy

Hi Nancy, im not sure about the apply before july but i applied September for endorsement and mine is expiring this june. BTW it took me 3months to get my actual license.

Yes, use your local address when applying because they might think you won’t stay here longer. Including your application for endorsement use your local address so you won’t keep changing. BON here is different, they are old school you need to write a letter for that.

About the benefits i need you need to call the hospital your are planning to appy. I didn’t know about the benefits until i was interviewed. Big hospital here are great with benefits.

You mention you have experience then thats a plus when applying. Nursing jobs in Hawaii is competitive. Hospital prefer getting Travel nurse with experience then new grad.

I hope this help, this is solely from my experience.

Thank you Zil888. Thank you for the advice on using local address for the application for the endorsement. I guess it’s June and not July. I read on a different thread/site that if you apply before June, then by the time you get your endorsement and it’s before June, then you have to pay, pretty much the same amount again for renewal. Anyway, I am not in a rush. I would probably start my endorsement application in June.
