Merck and Vioxx

Did you get many calls about Vioxx and the fact that Merck is taking it off the market?

we got a few but I expect more tomorrow.

Do you have many pts in your practice taking Vioxx?

What about the other COX 2 inhibitors, do you think we will see the same issues?

Oh Yes!

Yesterday alone I dealt with at least a dozen Vioxx calls. Thankfully I talked my docs into giving me a standing order for a replacement med. They all agreed to Mobicox 7.5 mg or 15 mg depending on the dose of Vioxx. That saved me running to them every time I got a call.

I suspect next week will be much the same.
