I'm a red cross disaster volunteer and with the flooding going on along the river from Flemington to Trenton we're finding that we really are short on volunteer nurses. I'm a graduate nurse, but not a registered nurse (yet) so I'm in that stupid "limbo" that the state sticks us in to where we can't do anything, but we've got the education to show for it. If you ever have spare time and want to help out during local disasters (or even national ones) the Red Cross of Central NJ in Princeton services Hunterdon, Mercer and Middlesex counties. We do have a satellite office in Hunterdon County, but not Middlesex anymore.
There's an especial push for those who have mental health experience. If you're interested, call the ARC at 609-951-8550.
