Albeit I'm not a nurse.....yet. Some day for sure though.
However, I just finished my classes through school and entering my externship site this Friday at an OBGYN office. I am nervous as all get out. Most of all I don't want to mess up. Is there anyone out there that can help advise me here? Mainly what to expect? Tips? Pointers? Anything relating to OBGYN working enviroment.
I was hoping for ENT, Peds or Cardiology and didn't get any of those elected places even though those were the specialties I had wanted to enter into. Mainly Peds because somewhere down the line I eventually wante to be a Pediatric Oncology Registered Nurse. Anyway, here I am ...nervous about actually putting my skills to use.
I really hope someone has some helpful information to help put my mind to ease because I am a bundle of nerves.
Thanks y'all! :heartbeat

Hi! I'm not a OBGYN nurse but I have had a baby and visit the OBGYN each year. The MA's at my Dr's office usually took blood and VS. I don't recall them being in the room during the exam. The only advice I can give you is to jump in there and be willing to learn. Ask to see and do anything you can get your hands on. Maybe you will get hired there when your done if you show interest and help out. In this economy you may not get the job you want. I just graduated with my RN and wanted Pedi but ended up in adult Med-surg, not ideal but it pays the bills.
