I'm going to be starting my first job at a med-surg unit at a busy urban hospital. I'm strongly considering going on to become an NP, possibly specializing in oncology or palliative care. Not sure if I'll do ANP or ACNP.
I was wondering if med-surg would be a good preparation for this. I know that people say you get the widest variety of illness in med-surg, and chances are I'll be on this unit for at least 2 or 3 years (I know ER is highly thought of too, but it's not really my cup of tea).
