Med-Pass in Mental Health Nursing

Published

Greetings,

I recently passed my NCLEX-RN and got my BSN and I have a passion for psychiatric nursing and psychology in general but not routine and long-lasting med-pass. I prefer to do mental health assessments, create care plans, talk with patients, and do less routine interventions. I am wondering if you have any idea what area of mental health I should go into since I don't like routine med-pass. I want to be a psychiatric nurse practitioner but I want to get experience in the field first is the thing. I want to be able to actually learn about different mental health illnesses and use critical thinking regarding them in the patients I work with before I go on to get my PNP. Does anyone have any good recommendations for me?
