Measure Ostomy Effluent?

How do you measure ostomy effluent to record I&O?

We have a graded lab tomorrow on ostomies and I can't find an actual way to measure it anywhere. Just that it must be done.

I was thinking I should weight the bag.

Empty the bag into a graduated cylinder.
