Hi!
I've been accepted to both the direct entry nursing program at McGill and into general sciences at UBC (hoping to enter the nursing program in third year) but I can't decide which offer I should accept. I think I would prefer to live in Vancouver, but I've never been to Montreal so I don't really know. I would choose UBC if it wasn't for the fact that I have to worry about getting into nursing in a few years.
I'm looking for any general advice that would help my decision, as well as information on how hard it is to get into nursing at UBC and what the workload is like at McGill, is it too hard?
Also I don't speak French, will that be a problem for me if I go to McGill?
Please Help!!!
Thanks
Kiawa

Can't give you any advice about McGill, but I was accepted to the UBC nursing program and I'll be starting next year. Just some background about the UBC program, the majority of people entering have completed a bachelors degree, some have several years work experience. They tend to favour applicants who are more mature, I think someone said the average age is mid-twenties. There are obviously always exceptions but I think in general it would be pretty rare to get into UBC nursing straight out of second year. If you want to go in earlier you could always look at BCIT or Langara as well as UBC if you want to stay in Vancouver. But if applying for UBC I would say it would be pretty difficult to get in right after second year, so you might be looking at a longer timeline if you were set on UBC.
