Mayo Clinic AZ Nurse Residency – What Should New Grads Expect?

Published

Hi everyone!

I wanted to start this forum for soon-to-be new grads hoping to apply to Mayo Clinic Arizona's Nurse Residency Program. I'd love to hear from anyone who has gone through the process—whether you were accepted as a new grad or joined Mayo later in your nursing career.

I'm especially hoping to hear about:

  • Are there multiple application periods, or is it just once a year?
  • How long did it take to hear back?
  • What was the application and interview process like from start to finish?
  • Did you network within the organization to get your foot in the door?
  • Did you end up getting placed where you ranked your preferences?
  • Did having a clinical rotation at Mayo make a difference?
  • Were there certain work experiences, extracurriculars, etc., that stood out most to the hiring committee?
  • What advice would you give your past self before applying?
  • If you applied to Mayo later (not as a new grad), what experience best prepared you to be hired?

Any insight or details would be so appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to help us new grads!
