I've been licensed since 2008, and working since 2009, but I have no acute care experience. I've basically passed meds and charted, with a dressing change here and there. I have yet to start and IV or participate in a code. I don't know what I don't know, and that scares me. I'm looking into an RN refresher course.
Right now, I'm looking into the RN refreshers at UMass Dartmouth and Quinsig. UMass Dartmouth has a skills lab, but no clinical component (as far as I can tell). I can't find any information about Quinsig's refresher. I'm not interested in an online program.
Has anyone taken an RN refresher in Massachusetts? Did it have a clinical component? How prepared did you feel afterward? Did it help you find a job?
